I was thinking about things that I am passionate about this morning and came up with a list of things that I believe are important in my life. Continue reading Passion
After a lot of thought and the fact that my current employer really stepped up to keep me, I have decided to stay the course and continue my career where I am at. It was a tough decision but my home is where I am and moving away for a job really wasn’t what I truly wanted to do. There were times it felt like it was the right way and thing to do but ultimately, I would have been miserable. Continue reading Stayin’ Put
I have a pretty good life and I make decisions that affect a number of people every day. Just when you think you have it all figured out, life throws you a curveball. This curveball has been especially emotional and trying but has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Complications happen…though I am not sure this is necessarily a complication. Continue reading Life is Complicated
I got up this morning a little hesitant to go for a run. I ran last night for 5 miles and was a little pooped but I got up and did it anyway. So this week I have already gone further than I did all last week. I have lost quite a bit more weight and I am driven to do more. As you can see from the picture, not only am I losing weight and getting less fat on my body, I am getting taller! Ummm, yeah, sure. Continue reading The Run and Running
I have had several interviews in my lifetime. I have had several job offers that were intriguing at the same time but for one reason or another, they never seemed to be the right fit. Last week, I was contacted by a company about a position that I can only say was tailor made for me to have. It works with my experience up through today and incorporates the opportunity to train others with what I know. It’s perfect! Continue reading Vetted – What a Process – **UPDATE**
I have been working out a lot lately…by working out I mean I have been running a lot…well a lot more than I usually run. I get out and run at least a 5k when I do get out though so it’s always productive. Yesterday I weighed myself to see what progress I have made. Surprise! I am under 200 pounds for the first time since last October. Continue reading Workout for the Future
We all have random fears as we are growing up and I had mine in the form of the Scissor Man. It was something my mom and aunt used to tell me about when I was a kid and we would visit my aunt in Chicago. They lived near 82nd and Kedzie, southside of Chicago. The neighborhood didn’t look that bad and was actually quite nice. That being said, it was still not the safest neighborhood so I believe they used to tell me about the Scissor Man so I wouldn’t go far from my aunt’s house. Continue reading Random Fact #21
When I was growing up, I loved going camping. Not the cushy, in the campground, amenities provided type of camping. I like camping in the timber a mile or two back of our house. Continue reading Random Fact #20
A few months ago, I spoke out in support of Michael Sam coming out as an openly gay football player who was going to throw his hat in the ring to become the first openly gay NFL Football player. This weekend, he was drafted #249 in the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams.
Twitter has had some interesting responses to his draft status: Continue reading Michael Sam
Yesterday, I got out and ran a new route. I went up the hill going out of Tiskilwa towards the golf course and through the country back into town. It was a little over 4 miles but good miles. I always dread getting started but once I get going, I don’t mind the run so much. I am far from being the shape I was last year at this time but I will keep at it and keep fighting for the better times and I will get into shape.
